Senior Occupational Therapist (Children's Disabilities) Job Summary: My client a HSE CDNT team based in North Dublin are seeking a highly experienced and dedicated Senior Occupational Therapist to join their Children's Disabilities Team. The role will involve working with children and young people with a range of physical, developmental, and intellectual disabilities, helping them achieve their full potential in everyday activities. You will be responsible for assessing, planning, and delivering tailored therapeutic interventions and providing leadership within the service. Key Responsibilities of the Senior Occupational Therapist Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people with a variety of disabilities, including physical, sensory, learning, and developmental impairments. Develop, implement, and monitor individualized care plans, focusing on improving participation in daily activities such as self-care, play, education, and social interaction. Deliver evidence-based interventions, including therapeutic exercises, sensory integration, fine motor skill development, and adaptive equipment recommendations. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including physiotherapists, speech therapists, educators, social workers, and pediatricians, to ensure holistic care. Family and Caregiver Support: Provide education, advice, and training to parents, caregivers, and teachers on supporting children's functional independence and participation. Empower families to integrate therapy techniques into their daily routines and manage ongoing care needs. Team Leadership & Supervision: Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior occupational therapists, therapy assistants, and students, fostering their professional growth. Act as a senior clinical resource, offering guidance on complex cases and ensuring high standards of care are maintained across the team. Service Development: Contribute to service improvement initiatives, such as developing new programs, optimizing therapy pathways, and enhancing service delivery models. Participate in audits, research, and quality improvement projects to ensure the service aligns with current best practices. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical records in accordance with professional and organizational standards. Prepare and present reports on children's progress, including recommendations for educational support, equipment, or further interventions. Essential Qualifications & Experience: Degree in Occupational Therapy from a recognized institution. Must be CORU registered Experience in working with a broad range of conditions, including developmental delays, cerebral palsy, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), sensory processing disorders, and learning disabilities. Strong knowledge of child development and its application in occupational therapy interventions.
