Role Title: Senior Occupational Therapist- Developmental Paediatric Service Role Location: Dublin Company: Vhi Health and Wellbeing A full-time and permanent position has arisen within Vhi forSenior Occupational Therapist- Developmental Paediatric Service within our Carrickmines Clinic Benefits: Health Insurance Performance related pay Company pension And many more Role Purpose The role holder, as an appropriately trained Occupational Therapist, will be responsible for providing integrative and seamless services within the Paediatric Clinic. Professional and Clinical Planning and organising a caseload of children aged 0-18 which developmental disabilities in line with services demands Assessment of cognitive, social and physical needs Provide individual and group interventions which will include assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of treatment programmes tailoring interventions for specific ages and or/presenting difficulties Planning and Managing Taking responsibility for the achievement of service delivery targets by regularly monitoring, recording and reporting performance outcomes and statistics Demonstrating innovation in working within resource limitations to sustain and enhance the service Liaise with primary care colleagues as a conduit of information and ensure timely referral where appropriate. Communicate effectively with and provide instruction, guidance and support to, staff, clients, family, carers etc. Judgement and Evaluation Establishing integrity by ensuring that the professional, ethical and safety factors are fully considered in decisions into which they have an input Recognising when it is appropriate to refer decisions to a higher level of authority or include other colleagues in the decision Professional Development Demonstrating clinical reasoning and skills in OT assessment intervention and diagnostics to meet the specific needs of children which a range of disabilities Operate within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice within Ireland and in accordance with Vhi standards & guidelines Taking responsibility for continuing professional development to ensure evidence based practice Collaborating skilfully with the service user to identify goals Will be adequately aware of policy, legislative and professional requirements to ensure appropriate standards in their area of responsibility Ensuring that all records and technical data are up to date and available if required Taking initiatives to move the service forward and show willingness to try out new ideas that add service delivery value Team Working Attending and actively contributing to relevant clinical, professional and service meetings Participating as a full member of the MDT understanding and facilitating multidisciplinary team working working in collaboration with the other members of the team in the planning and delivery of services for children participating in training and developmental opportunities as identified and agreed Leadership building credibility and portraying the service in a positive light demonstrating commitment and initiative to achieve results and improve the service accepting accountability for standards of performance in relevant area of responsibility maintaining ethical and personal standards at all times Audit and Research Regularly audit clinical practice and initiate collaborative change that will improve standards of care and health outcomes to patients. Education and Training Participate in Training for staff as appropriate Provide education where required for other members of the multidisciplinary team. Engage in personal development planning and performance review for self Develop literature to support patient information and education Work 1:1 with clients to develop a treatment or personalised plan, based on the best available evidence and established pathways. Working with each individual over time to help them achieve their goals. Actively work as part of a multidisciplinary team Contribute to the development of new Integrative Health initiatives and solutions. Research & recommend potential new initiatives to be included in future phases of the Integrative Health Proposition. Quality, Safety, and Risk Ensure quality and accountability by using best practice processes that measure therapeutic effectiveness and secure meaningful service user feedback. Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, guidelines and safe professional practice and adhere to relevant legislation, regulations and standards and ensure that staff under his/her remit comply with these. Have a working knowledge of HIQA standards as they apply to the role for example Standards for Healthcare. Education & Experience Essential requirements: Hold an Occupational Therapy qualification recognised by CORU. Have a minimum of 5 years clinical experience demonstrate depth and breadth of experience in working with children and young people with developmental issues ability to practice in a family centred manner and demonstrate commitment to work in partnership with families ability to take responsibility for planning and managing an independent workload with competing demands excellent interpersonal sk enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen to develop professional skils Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values Strongly desirable: Demonstrated alignment to Vhi values Skills and Abilities High level of professional and personal integrity Experience of developing, applying and reviewing an evidence-based approach to decision making Proficient in navigating IT systems and comfortable using digital platforms Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking and presentation skills. Proven ability to work effectively and confidently across all levels of an organisation. Exceptional planning and time management, effectively prioritises tasks and has the ability to manage multiple complex tasks. Ability to analyse and interpret data to measure success of health and wellness initiatives. Flexibility to work evenings / weekends as required by the role.
