Job Description

Job Title & Grade Physiotherapy Senior; Permanent, 1 WTE position (35 hours) Location of Post The Royal Hospital Donnybrook Details of Hospital The Royal Hospital Donnybrook provides Sub-Acute, Stroke, Respite, Continuing Care, Neurological and General Rehabilitation services to adults, along with a busy Day Hospital. The Hospital is an independent, voluntary, charitable organization. Services are provided on a not-for profit basis. The successful candidate will join a team of Physiotherapists and Assistants who provide intervention to all specialties outline above. Excellent inter-disciplinary working is evident across all teams in the hospital together with a strong patient centred ethos. Reporting Relationship The post holder is professionally accountable and will report to the Physiotherapy Manager. Purpose of Post To plan, manage, organise and provide the physiotherapy service on the Stroke rehabilitation Unit. To work in conjunction with other team members in co-ordinating and developing the service to meet the needs of the Stroke population it serves in line with the objectives of the organisation To be responsible for the provision of a high quality Physiotherapy service in accordance with standards of professional practice To carry out clinical and educational duties as required To work with Physiotherapy Manager in ensuring the co-ordination, development and delivery of a quality, client centred physiotherapy service across and between networks in the geographical area. More specifically, the Senior Physiotherapist, as part of the Physiotherapy Team will: Manage, develop and evaluate an post-acute Stroke physiotherapy rehabilitation service Plan and implement a gym based rehabilitation exercise programme for patients meeting the agreed inclusion criteria in individual or group settings Be an expert resource in Stroke care to physiotherapists working in the Royal Hospital Donnybrook Develop and maintain guidelines and protocols relating to Stroke care Eligibility Criteria Qualifications & Experience Required: 1. Statutory Registration, Professional Qualifications, Experience, etc. (a) Candidates for appointment must: i. Be registered, or be eligible for registration, on the Physiotherapists Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU And ii. Have three years full time (or an aggregate of three years full time) post qualification clinical experience of which 1 years or equivalent must be in the required area of Stroke and/or Neurological Rehabilitation. And iii. Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office And iv. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued v. Havethe clinical, managerial and administrative capacity to fulfil the functions of the role 2. Annual registration i. On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Physiotherapist Register maintained by the Physiotherapists Registration Board at CORU And ii. Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Human Resources, The Royal Hospital Donnybrook by way of the annual Patient Safety Assurance Certificate (PSAC) Desired: Experience supervising physiotherapy undergraduates and graduate staff. Experience supervising staff grades physiotherapists and physiotherapy assistants. Evidence of relevant post- graduation education/ courses. Membership of a relevant clinical interest group.
