Job Description

Senior Physiotherapist Disability Unit: Seeking a highly motivated and experienced physiotherapist to provide specialist services to individuals with disabilities.

This role involves providing physiotherapy services to support physical rehabilitation, mobility, and quality of life for clients with varying degrees of physical, developmental, and neurological disabilities.

The successful candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team to deliver personalized, evidence-based care and promote the holistic well-being of clients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of clients with varying degrees of physical, developmental, and neurological disabilities.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to each client's needs.
  • Use a range of therapeutic techniques, including manual therapy, exercise prescription, electrotherapy, and mobility aids.
  • Lead physiotherapy interventions aimed at improving mobility, functional independence, and overall quality of life.
  • Support clients with chronic disability conditions, including spasticity management, posture and positioning, and pain management.
  • Monitor, evaluate, and review client progress regularly and adjust treatment plans as necessary.
  • Work closely with occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses, doctors, and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
  • Provide advice and training to healthcare staff, carers, and families to ensure the continuation of care outside of therapy sessions.
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to junior physiotherapists, physiotherapy assistants, and students.
  • Act as a lead physiotherapist within the unit, offering guidance and support to the physiotherapy team.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of client assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Promote health, well-being, and preventative care strategies among clients, their families, and caregivers.

Essential Criteria:

  • Qualifications: BSc/MSc in Physiotherapy or equivalent qualification recognized by CORU (Health and Social Care Professionals Council).
  • CORU registration as a Physiotherapist.
  • 3+ years experience as a registered Physiotherapist.
  • Strong clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
  • Proficiency in using physiotherapy software and electronic health records.
