Job Description

Senior Platform Engineer

Design, develop, and manage infrastructure as code for a cloud-based data platform, enabling CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and security.

Collaborate with agile delivery teams to engineer high-quality solutions for data platforms, driving automation and introducing new engineering patterns and frameworks.

Advocate for platform engineering practices and standards, providing mentorship and support to less experienced team members.

Stay informed about the latest developments in data and cloud platforms, following standard methodologies and processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and manage infrastructure as code for a cloud-based data platform
  • Enable CI/CD pipelines for complex data flows and processes
  • Monitor and troubleshoot data pipelines and APIs
  • Implement and manage security tools and processes
  • Advocate for platform engineering practices and standards

Requirements:

  • 7+ years of experience as a Platform Engineer managing infrastructure as code for cloud-based data platforms
  • Deep technical knowledge in cloud technologies and architecture, preferably AWS
  • Hands-on experience with infrastructure as code tools like Terraform/Open Tofu or equivalent
  • Experience with DevOps tools and technologies like Jenkins, GIT, Bitbucket, Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Docker, and Kubernetes
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Groovy

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of cloud technologies like AWS, Azure, or GCP
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools like Splunk, Grafana, ELK stack, or Cloud Watch
  • Knowledge of Apache tools like Impala, Hive, Ranger, Atlas, Hue, HBase/Phoenix, Spark, and Airflow

About the Team:

The Data Solutions Engineering team provides engineering services for the Group's Operational Data Store, Enterprise Data Warehouse, and Enterprise Data Lake.

We sit within the Group Data & Analytics Office, which is the core team for all things data in the bank.

We deliver data elements to support Digital, Customer, Regulatory, and other change initiatives that drive the Group's transformation agenda.
