SENIOR PRACTICE DEVELOPMENT LAWYER – DUBLIN Brief We are currently looking to recruit a Senior Practice Development Lawyer with 6 years+ PQE to join the Dublin office, to work across our 4 Practice Groups: Risk Advisory Services (which includes Litigation and Regulatory), Finance and Projects, Transactional Services and Property. Background This role will work with part of a wider business-wide group of Practice Development Lawyers across our various practice groups and sectors, reporting to the firm’s Director of Knowledge. The work of the Practice Development Lawyer is highly varied and valued. It covers internal knowledge management and training, business development/profile-building activities, training and knowledge support for clients, driving innovative service delivery, and work on strategic initiatives for the department and wider firm. The role is to fill a need for a Practice Development Lawyer to add additional bandwidth to the team. Candidates specialising in particular areas covered by the Practice Groups outlined above will be considered. Candidate Required We are looking for an enthusiastic, well organised and self-motivated lawyer to provide knowledge and practice development support to the Practice Groups. The role would suit a lawyer already in a practice development/knowledge/professional support role, or a fee-earning lawyer looking for a change of role. Responsibilities will include: Working with partners, fee-earners and business development colleagues to identify opportunities and produce thought leadership publications including articles, newsletters/briefings, horizon-scanning content and press comment. Producing, updating and managing appropriate precedents, practice notes and checklists, including creating and maintaining precedents to drive efficiency in service delivery. Working with the central knowledge and information services teams to identify strategic knowledge resources to provide legal and sector knowledge, and promoting best use of those platforms and subscriptions. Working with our Advanced Delivery Team (ADT) to help identify and deliver priority innovation projects. Researching and providing information, analysis expertise and advice on legal, procedural, market and policy developments to the fee-earning lawyers within the practice. Helping to foster a culture of knowledge-sharing, including by conducting post-matter debriefs and capturing and disseminating knowhow, precedents and learning points. Working with the partner and lawyer teams to develop and implement strategic projects, proactively identifying new work streams and other opportunities. Co-ordinating and delivering training programmes for trainees and interns. Organising and delivering internal training, and identifying/sourcing/managing appropriate external training for colleagues. Contributing to the delivery of training to key clients, including where required suggesting topics, developing materials and delivering presentations. Attending client and sector events, briefings and presentations, and co-ordinating Pinsent Masons events and seminars. Helping to identify and secure opportunities to maintain and grow the firm's brand through speaking/panel involvement in conferences and other industry events, and supporting our senior practitioners in delivering such sessions. Key Skills An Irish qualified lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with ideally at least 6 years’ experience in at least one of the focus areas identified above. Enthusiasm and an interest in the future of legal services, knowledge management and client service delivery. Strong communication and influencing skills and the ability to work effectively at all levels with clients, lawyers/other professionals, business development colleagues and support services. Good time and project management skills to ensure efficient and timely delivery of work and strategic initiatives. Strong research, analytical and drafting skills, with excellent attention to detail. Good knowledge of IT applications and their relevance to the knowledge operations of law firms, ideally with knowledge of and interest in technology tools. Highly collaborative and able to work among a group of high-performing peers. Self-starter – innovative, takes the initiative and follows through. Practical, flexible approach. Ability to think and express views strategically and commercially. Exhibits approach and behaviours consistent with the business's core values of 'approachable', 'bold' and 'connected'.
