Job Description
Senior/Principal Freshwater Ecologist / Hydro-Ecologist sought for water projects, schemes and to address general water use and management issues throughout Ireland.
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Freshwater Ecologist with a good understanding of hydrology and water quality, and the relationships between these things.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in freshwater ecology, with experience in assessing and determining the status of freshwater ecology in Ireland, using routine metrics and methods such as the Q and SSRS scoring systems.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Assessing and determining the status of freshwater ecology in Ireland
- Developing and implementing measures to improve aquatic ecology in line with WFD objectives for 'good status by 2027'
- Working with clients to understand their water use and management issues and developing solutions to address these
- Collaborating with other experts to develop and implement business development and client engagement strategies
Desirable skills and experience include:
- Educated to at least Degree level (Level 8/9)
- Relevant work experience, at least some of which will be in a consultancy environment
- Chartered Scientist, Environmentalist or Ecologist
- Experience of undertaking business development and client engagement
- Experience of proposal and tender writing and winning and delivering won work
