Snr Process Organic Chemist

About the Role

  • Provide process chemistry support for existing and new processes to ensure the site's scientific, quality, and safety metrics are achieved.
  • Lead/participate in detailed technical risk assessments for plant changes/product introduction.
  • Contribute to development initiatives to improve process understanding, process control, process capability, cycle time, yield, and efficiency.
  • Participate in the Technology Transfer process, ensuring processes/technologies are suitable for commercial production.

Key Responsibilities

  • Acquire and maintain a detailed knowledge and understanding of the chemistry of relevant processes.
  • Prepare technical documentation to support manufacturing, including manufacturing batch records, laboratory SOPs, process steps, PQ protocols, and CMC chemistry descriptions.
  • Provide training to Operations team personnel.
  • Lead and seek approval for process changes, ensuring communication and progression on and off-site.
  • Investigate quality and yield issues, ensuring deviation reports/unplanned change notifications and Quality Investigation Reports are closed out in a timely fashion.
  • Liaise with customers to ensure project updates and specific customer requests are addressed.
  • Support laboratory development projects on schedule for relevant processes.
  • Liaise with procurement to support cost reduction and security of supply projects.
  • Provide scientific advice to the evaluation and assessment of suppliers.
  • Support Capital engineering projects relating to new products, existing products, and major process re-development.
  • Ensure all aspects of Product Quality Lifecycle Management are actively maintained.

Requirements

  • PhD in Organic Chemistry or related area.
  • 3+ years of experience in process development, tech transfers, and NPI support is beneficial.
  • Experience in supporting API plant processes is helpful.
