Job Description

Senior Project Engineer (Highways/Active Travel) sought for a role in Sustainable Infrastructure team, with a focus on highways, greenways, and active travel projects.

Fehily Timoney and Company (FT) is one of Ireland's largest Irish owned consultants with centres of excellence in Sustainable Infrastructure, Circular Economy, Environment and Renewables.

FT provides design and contract management services for infrastructure projects such as roads, greenways, active travel, bridgeworks, rail, solid waste facilities, renewable energy, drainage, water and wastewater treatment facilities, airports, tunnels and gas pipelines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design of highways, active travel, and greenways projects
  • Take responsibility for preparation of designs and reports at all stages of a project lifecycle
  • Working closely with other Engineers, Ecologists and Environmental Scientists within the Company
  • Planning and managing design deliverables, working closely with the CAD team
  • Participate in client and stakeholder meetings
  • Ensure compliance with our Quality Assurance and Management Systems
  • Ensure compliance with the relevant Health and Safety legislation
  • Takes ownership of issues and seek team participation to achieve best solution

Skills / Qualifications:

  • Degree in Civil or Transportation Engineering
  • 5 years post-graduate experience in the design of highways, greenway or active travel projects
  • Working towards achieving Chartered Engineer status
  • Solid understanding of the requirements of design standards including TII, DMURS, Cycle Design Manual
  • Strong communication and technical report writing skills
  • Experience in the preparation of technical reports as per the requirements of TII Project Appraisal Guidelines and/or NTA Project Approval Guidelines is a plus
  • High level of proficiency in the use of Auto CAD
  • Proficiency in the use of Civil 3 D is a plus
  • Efficient work methods, functioning both as part of team and on own initiative
  • The ability to adopt and work to new procedures and systems quickly
  • Must be prepared to travel to site visits and client meetings
  • Full Drivers Licence
