Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a leading developer in the Dublin area. This position offers an exciting opportunity for a professional with a strong background in quantity surveying to play a pivotal role in the successful management of multiple projects. The role encompasses both site and office-based responsibilities, requiring a deep understanding of cost control, procurement, and contract administration. Role and Responsibilities Site and Office-Based Role Engage in a dynamic role that balances site visits and office-based tasks, ensuring effective project cost management. Estimation and Cost Planning Accurately and efficiently prepare estimates and cost plans for multiple projects, adhering to budgetary constraints. Maintain a comprehensive cost database for benchmarking and reference. Preplanning Stage Review planning designs and provide cost control and advice to the Development Team during the preplanning stage. Offer procurement advice and insights to enhance project efficiency. Tendering and Procurement Conduct a thorough review of tenders and tender reports, ensuring competitive and compliant procurement. Monitor project budgets and cost codes, maintaining auditable reference back to project appraisal. Valuations and Cost Reporting Perform site visits and prepare valuations and cost reports, thoroughly assessing and negotiating all variations with contractors and subcontractors. Manage the change control process and prepare comprehensive cost reports. Contract Administration Administer main contracts, ensuring compliance with contract terms and obligations. Resolve construction disputes and manage loss and expense claims. Final Account Preparation Prepare and reach agreements on final accounts, providing a clear and transparent financial conclusion to projects. Review project programs and understand the logic in line with costs and cash flow. Other Duties Undertake any other duties that may be reasonably required to ensure project success and efficiency. Qualifications and Experience Bachelor's (BSc) or Master's (MSc) degree in Surveying or a related field, or working towards an MSc qualification. Preferably Chartered or seeking to become Chartered in quantity surveying. In-depth understanding of cost and value drivers within the construction industry. A minimum of 5+ years of working experience in quantity surveying roles. Practical experience in the residential sector is desirable. IT efficiency, with experience in using Cubit/CostX considered advantageous.
