Job Description

Overall info: My Client an established-but-growing Irish-owned Civil Engineering Contractor who take on site development and utilities contracts for Roads, Rails, Data Centres and Residential Developments across the UK. These projects are usually valued at between £2m-£12m. We're looking for a site based Senior Quantity Surveyor to manage one of their larger projects. You'd be based in the Surrey region and would report in to a UK-based Commercial Manager. As Senior QS, you'd be responsible for the commercial aspects of this project, working closely with on-site teams and Company Directors. We're looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, has a good personality, strong negotiation skills. Ideally we'd like to find someone who has the capacity to take more responsibility further down the line. This could be managing larger projects, supervising/training more Junior staff or moving up the ladder. Ideally you'll be someone with previous Civil Engineering Contractor/Subcontractor experience but you have to have managed NEC Contracts previously and have a proven track record in doing so. Main responsibilities will include: Advise on Contractual matters. Process contractual claims and all associated records. Look for opportunities to maximise revenue and reduce cost and identify and investigate losses. Assist with project cash management. Advise and support with project correspondence and ensure that timelines, SLAa's are kept. Negotiate and agree subcontractors, prices and terms and prepare subcontract and suppliers documents. Ensure final accounts are closed in a timely manner. Prepare and review monthly cost reports. Manage major aspects of final accounts. Manage major aspects of variations. Requirements: Right to work in the UK Professional qualification in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management Strong communication and presentation skills Strong time and stakeholder management skills.
