Job Description

Senior Respiratory Physiologist role located in Cork North City Integrated Care Hub, St. Marys Campus Gurranabraher, Cork City, aligned to Mercy University Hospital (MUH). The role will support the delivery of Integrated Respiratory Care Service, providing a holistic approach to chronic respiratory disease, and reducing waiting times for hospital-based outpatient services.

The Senior Respiratory Physiologist will conduct a range of respiratory diagnostic tests, including spirometry, bronchodilator response testing, and lung volumes by gas dilution. They will also conduct invasive tests, such as bronchoprovocation challenges and skin allergy tests.

The role requires a minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant post-qualification experience, with a flexible approach to working hours. The ideal candidate will have a sound knowledge base in computer skills, including Microsoft Office. They will also have effective communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships.

The Senior Respiratory Physiologist will work as part of a multidisciplinary team, including respiratory consultants, physiotherapists, and GPs. They will participate in patient care, including procedures, reassurance, and education. The role also requires responsibility for quality control and standards in the pulmonary function and sleep laboratories.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct a range of respiratory diagnostic tests, including spirometry and bronchoprovocation challenges.
  • Conduct invasive tests, such as skin allergy tests and cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
  • Conduct, manually score, and report on overnight sleep studies.
  • Reporting and presentation of data and highlighting abnormal results.
  • History taking and interpretation of request forms.
  • Participate in patient care, including procedures, reassurance, and education.
  • Responsibility for all aspects of quality control and standards in the pulmonary function and sleep laboratories.

Requirements:

  • A minimum of 3 years of full-time relevant post-qualification experience.
  • A flexible approach to working hours.
  • A sound knowledge base in computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication and leadership skills.
  • The ability to build and maintain relationships.

  • Access to own transport with full driver's license.
