Senior Roads Design Engineer Required to Lead Road and Rail Projects in Ireland
Atkins Réalis is a global leader in engineering, professional consulting, and support services. We are seeking a highly experienced senior roads design engineer to join our Highways and Transportation team in Cork, Ireland.
- Job Description:
- Plan and design road, rail, public transport, and active travel projects across Ireland, ensuring compliance with statutory processes, design standards, and best practices.
- Prepare contract documents, administer contracts, and supervise construction work, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, designers, and project managers, to deliver complex infrastructure projects.
- Develop and maintain relationships with clients, stakeholders, and colleagues, ensuring excellent communication, collaboration, and project outcomes.
Key Requirements:

Qualifications:
- Degree level in engineering (Level 8/9)
- Chartered Engineer or expecting to become Chartered within 12 months

Experience:
- Extensive relevant experience in a consultancy environment
- Experience in design and build projects
- Experience in the development of road schemes, including feasibility studies, preliminary and detailed design, statutory processes, procurement processes, contract document preparation, contract administration, and construction supervision

Skills:
- Computer literate with experience of relevant design software (e.g. AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley Open Roads)
- Knowledgeable of relevant design standards (TII / NTA) and ability to translate this knowledge into practical, buildable, and value for money designs
- Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills
