Job Description

Job Title: Smarter Travel Programme Coordinator

Key responsibilities include promoting public transport and active travel, building relationships with stakeholders, and coordinating events and campaigns.

The successful candidate will support the NTAs Smarter Travel Manager in promoting public transport and active travel to workplaces, colleges and schools throughout Ireland as part of the Smarter Travel Programme, Smarter Travel Mark certification and Smarter Travel Students Awards Programme.

  • Build and maintain relationships with Smarter Travel Programme workplace and campus partners, supporting the development and implementation of active and sustainable travel plans.
  • Act as primary contact for Smarter Travel Programme partners, providing support and advice on implementing sustainable mobility plans.
  • Administer and analyse Smarter Travel programme surveys, coordinating the delivery of the Smarter Travel Mark.
  • Coordinate behavioural change initiatives, including active travel interventions such as Marchathon, Walktober, Bike Week, and Cycle Challenges.
  • Coordinate and deliver the national Smarter Travel Student Awards Programme, working with lecturers and students in third-level institutions.
  • Maintain and develop the Smarter Travel Student awards judging panel, ensuring diverse industry representation.
  • Deliver lectures and briefings throughout the academic year, coordinating seminars, events, and campaigns.
  • Coordinate marketing and promotional materials, ensuring collateral is approved by the Smarter Travel Manager or other authorised person.
  • Maintain and update the website and TFI Smarter Travel website, promoting the use of digital channels.
  • Analyse data and present comprehensive results, reporting on KPIs and achievements.
  • Provide customer support through the NTA Customer Relationship Management system.
  • Manage budgets and perform other tasks as required.

Essential Criteria

  • Hold a minimum of a NFQ Level 7 qualification in a relevant discipline.
  • Have at least five years recent relevant experience in business or behavioural change roles, with 2 years experience managing projects or people.
  • Have at least one of the required five years to include experience in public transport roles that relate to promoting public transport, active or sustainable transport modes.
  • Have strong experience in managing and building stakeholder relationships.
  • Have strong experience in analysing, reporting, and presenting data.

Desirable Criteria

  • Have strong experience of writing copy for websites and/or other publications.
  • Have experience managing multiple projects.
  • Have experience marketing sustainable and active travel initiatives.
