Job Description

Professional and Technical, Senior Management Fingal is a highly attractive place to live, work, visit, and do business. It comprises a geographical area of 450 sq.km stretching from Balbriggan in the north, to Blanchardstown in the west, and to Howth in the east. The area is defined by the diversity of its landscape and settlement patterns with rural, urban, and suburban locations all rolled into one county. Fingal County Council is one of the county’s major local employers and currently employs approximately 1,600 staff. The Council is mandated to deliver a diverse range of functions and services which can be broadly described under the headings of the provision of physical and social infrastructure, housing, economic and tourism development, community development, recreation and amenity services, and the management of the planning and environmental regulatory framework. The role of the County Council as provided for in law is to represent, lead, and serve the communities of Fingal. An opportunity now exists in Fingal County Council for the position of Senior Solicitor, reporting to the Law Agent. The Senior Solicitor will be responsible for the efficient management and development of their prescribed work area to which they are assigned by the Law Agent. The Senior Solicitor is a senior position within the Law Department and will be required to work under the direction of the Law Agent in areas coming within the responsibility of the Law Department as may be assigned. The role is a managerial role and will include such advocacy, managerial, analytical, research, compliance, administrative, and supervisory functions as may be required and as circumstances demand. The Senior Solicitor will be responsible for leading, organising, managing, and supervising the work of the area to which they are assigned, including the management of the staff resources available.
