Job Description

Experienced Senior Solicitor sought to provide legal advice on complex commercial, contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters in a dynamic environment.

EirGrid Group operates and develops the electricity system in Ireland, with a focus on low-carbon, renewable energy. Our strategy is shaped by climate change and the transition of the electricity sector.

The EirGrid Legal Team works closely with the business to support the delivery of the EirGrid Group Strategy, demonstrating the values and behaviours of the group.

Job Description:

  • Provide legal advice to the EirGrid Group on complex commercial, contractual, regulatory, and compliance matters.
  • Drive and proactively liaise with relevant business areas and key staff and teams to anticipate and analyse legal risks arising for the business.
  • Consistently apply professional values and sound judgments based on experience in the energy industry, demonstrating strong commercial awareness and knowledge of the applicable legislative, regulatory, and governance frameworks.
  • Provide effective and solutions-driven legal advice, support, and guidance to the business, delivering high-quality services against demanding timelines.
  • Use professional judgement to instruct external legal advisors as required and manage relationships to maximise value for money and minimise overall risk and cost to the EirGrid Group.
  • Participate in legal team initiatives and meetings, adding value to the legal team and business.
  • Support and mentor more junior legal team members.

Requirements:

  • Qualified lawyer with at least 6+ years relevant post-qualification experience, preferably within the energy or infrastructure sector.
  • Proven track record of proactively organising and managing high workloads and ability to effectively deal with complex legal matters.
  • Ability to quickly master complex areas of law, technical industry parameters, and EU regulatory requirements.
  • Results-driven, highly organised, and efficient with an ability to manage multiple priorities and ensure deadlines are consistently met.
  • Ability to provide sound commercial and legal judgment and to provide legal advice in clear and concise terms.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Team player who can support and be collegiate with others in delivering company objectives.
  • Excellent attention to detail with a strong commercial focus and business acumen.
  • A demonstrated ability to work on own initiative.
