Your new company This client is a large Engineering Consultancy, which is part of a global group of companies working across 45 countries. They are seeking a Structural Engineer to join their team due to growth. Your new role The successful candidate will be responsible for leading a team in the delivery of projects for our clients. Part of the role will also include the mentoring of junior engineering staff. The successful candidate will get the opportunity to work on a wide variety of construction technologies including 2D panelised and 3D modular systems. A plan will also be in place to work towards becoming a Chartered Engineer. Responsibilities include: Develop relations with project design teams and clients. Adherence to the company management systems Undertaking concept designs and planning at concept stage on a wide variety of buildings of repeat clients Delivering projects based on timeframes and budgetary requirements. Manage the resource that have been allocated for project delivery. Producing structural engineering calculations for High-Risk Structures and reviewing calculations for typical structures Checking designs and drawings and other works undertaken by the team and providing feedback and coaching where necessary. Assisting Principal Engineers in the development of timescales for new projects Review of project variations and ensuring variation costs agreed. Attending first and last site visits as required for inspections and issue inspection reports. Review of inspection reports by the structural team. For BCAR related projects, ensuring that designs and inspections are carried out in accordance with inspection notification frameworks issued, and preparing final documentation to enable Ancillary certification by the Principal Engineer. Reviewing all items of inspections. Retain a good working knowledge of important and relevant standards and typical details. Communicate to Principal Engineers and evidence that clients are developing changes to their systems. Providing technical assistance and support as required to others within the team, including to those within other departments. Working towards becoming an MMC technical expert and continued CPD of new systems and developments in the industry. Develop a strong knowledge in relation to applicable design standards such as Eurocodes. Provide technical support to the engineering team. Maintain and build upon First Principles engineering analysis and be proactive in learning and researching the required technical information. Have the ability to provide suitable hand calculations when required. Assisting and mentoring of Structural Engineers. Work with PE to manage Structural engineering teams. Assisting on R&D works as required with Clients. Lead R&D works as appropriate. Assisting on R&D works as required within the company. Lead R&D works as appropriate. Becoming proficient in the use of in-house design software, externally sourced software, and QA processes. Assist in the development of design process. Any other tasks commensurate with this post. Assist with enabling the maintenance of harmonious relationships within the team. What you'll need to succeed 7+ years post grad professional experience in Structural Engineering. 5+ years Structural Design experience with Steel Structures. Extensive knowledge of Eurocodes and British Standards. Extensive experience with at least one Structural Design Software and capable to learn others smoothly. Extensive knowledge with Steel Connections. Experience with Steel Manufacturing requirements / drawings / procedures. Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Tools. Outlook / Word / Excel / PowerPoint etc. Must be proficient with AutoCAD. Excellent organisation, planning and time management skills, with an ability to work both under guidance and using your own initiative.
