Senior Substation Design Engineer Summary: The role involves leading the design of transmission and distribution networks, ensuring quality assurance, and collaborating with a multi-disciplinary team in Ireland, the UK, and internationally.
Retained by a utility infrastructure consultancy and construction company, we are seeking an experienced Design Engineer to lead the design of transmission and distribution networks. Reporting directly to the Design Managers/Leads and Group Directors, the successful candidate will work on a wide range of projects, from design report compilation to peer review of draft reports and drawings.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design report compilation
- Design review
- Quality assurance compliance
- Implementation of ISO HSQE standards
- Peer review of draft reports/drawings/documentation
- Detailed analysis of design packages
- Collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team on the design of transmission and distribution networks
- Assisting in the compilation and assessment of Tender Submissions
Requirements:
- Minimum Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering or related discipline (NFQ Level 8)
- Relevant industry experience (though not essential)
- Strong technical and design ability essential
- Strong IT skills required
- Knowledge of Auto CAD an advantage (training provided where necessary)
- Excellent team worker with effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Flexible approach to work and full driver's licence required
- Formal report writing and professional presentation of work essential
