Job Description

Take on a challenging role as a Senior Technical Design Manager, overseeing the development of infrastructure and structural solutions for residential-led developments in Ireland.

My client, a pioneering property developer, seeks an experienced professional to lead their design and development team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Collaborating with the design and development team, construction and cost planning teams to develop, design and implement the optimum infrastructure and structural solution for each development.
  • Managing design teams to achieve accurate and coordinated design post-planning process to enable accurate procurement by site teams.
  • Leading the product selection process and contributing to the Value Engineering process with the Construction Operations team to ensure buildable, value-add design solutions.
  • Reviewing, interrogating and challenging all designs produced throughout the design and development process to ensure they meet construction team expectations.
  • Streamlining and standardising the approach to project development to enable effective and cost-effective delivery at scale.
  • Leading and aligning all stakeholders, particularly utility providers.
  • Collaborating with internal and external teams to provide materials, products and systems solutions that meet the agreed design brief, cost and quality.
  • Influencing and ensuring that critical design decisions are fully considered and challenged from concept stage onward.
  • Building trusting relationships with all internal and external stakeholders.
  • Liaising with all necessary functions to progress the project through each project stage.
  • Considering Modern Methods of Construction and design (including BIM) into the pre-planning and subsequent phases.
  • Awareness of cost management, value engineering and project viability.
  • Point of Contact for liaising with Local Authorities on Planning and Building Control related matters.

  • Experience in residential spatial interior and exterior design architecture.

  • In-depth knowledge and appreciation of the budget and programme parameters underpinning the construction delivery process.

Requirements:

  • Familiarity with CAD, BIM, Excel, Word, PowerPoint.
  • 10+ years experience in a similar role within mid-scale residential projects.
  • Passion for the design and delivery of transformative residential-led developments.
  • Excellent relationship management skills and ability to work within a dynamic team.
  • Strong technical analytical and presentation skills.
  • Strong knowledge of the Irish planning, development and construction sector.
