Senior Technical Officer Department of Nursing(Kerry Campus) This position will be filled on a permanent basis in accordance with the requirements of the Technological Universities Act 2018. Duties and Responsibilities The Senior Technical Officer will be responsible to the President/Director, Head of School/Department/ recognised Function as agreed, for the supervision, co-ordination, direction and administration of all technical staff and services within the School/Department/Function, and such other technical duties as may be laid down by the President/Director, Head of School/Department/Function. Some of these Schools/Departments/Functions may operate over a number of different locations in addition to the main campus. Due to the low number of Technicians/Technical Officers in certain Schools/Department/Functional areas, some Senior Technical Officers may have a cross School/Department/Functional responsibility. A Senior Technical Officer may also be responsible for the operation of an advanced, specialist technical service where only one or a small number of technical staff are located. These areas maybe specific and unique and may not conform to the normal structure of a School / Department /Function. The President/Director of the University will normally designate these areas in advance. The nature of the post requires the appointee to work closely with lecturing and other staff. Senior Technical Officers may report to the relevant University officer with the appropriate management or supervisory function as designated by the Director/President. This includes Heads of School/Department, recognised Functional Heads i.e. Central Manager Grades Following appointment the appointee will be assigned to a particular location and post. The appointee maybe reallocated to another post of similar grade dependant on university requirements and appointees should note that the nature of the post may change over time. On assignment to the particular post, the University will provide a detailed list of duties and responsibilities applicable to the post. Main Duties: Team Leadership Provide team lead and laboratories manager duties. Collaborating with faculty and other team members to ensure seamless simulation and clinical skills lab activities. Coordinate activities across seven labs. SupportingtheongoingimplementationandrenewaloftheMTUsimulationstrategy. Soliciting and acting on feedbacktoensureaqualitysimulationprogrammeandexcellentuser experience. Educational Support Provide technical advice and assistance during practical classes, including demonstrating equipment, procedures, and techniques as required. Assisting and supporting all simulation lab stakeholders both within and from outside of the University. Assist and facilitate all technical activities within the Department including assisting with delivery of teaching and research that is aligned with the strategic plan of the Department, the School and the future Faculty. Support existing audio visual and e-learning facilities within the Department and undertaking installation, maintenance and updating of hardware and software, and commissioning new equipment. Maintaining simulation activities and learner confidentiality. Technical Support and Maintenance Planning and executing technical projects and operations. Procuring, maintaining, repairing and troubleshooting technical systems and equipment. Lead the accreditation of centre staff and accreditation of simulation programmes and centre through ASPiH, SESAM, or SSH. The accreditation process combines evidence of activities aligning to standards of best practice and a visit to the centre from the accreditation team. Undertake such other appropriate duties as may be assigned from time to time by the university authorities. 3. Citizenship Requirement Candidates should note that eligibility to compete for posts is open to citizens of the European Economic Area (EEA) or to non-EEA nationals with a valid work permit. The EEA consists of the Member States of the European Union, United Kingdom along with Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway. Swiss citizens under EU agreements may also apply.
