Job Description

Position: Senior Tooling Engineer Location: Longford Permanent The Role: Our client, a premier provider of advanced injection-molded packaging solutions for consumer goods, healthcare, and industrial sectors worldwide are seeking a Senior Tooling Engineer to join their dynamic and progressive team. As a Tooling Engineer for new and refurbished medical tooling programs, you will play a key role in the entire tool development process. This includes assisting with vendor selection and quoting for tool builds, providing expert input on design, monitoring mold construction, and procuring measurement fixtures. You will also be responsible for conducting Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT)/T0 and fine-tuning molds to meet part specifications. Ensuring a seamless and thorough transition of molds into production will be a crucial aspect of your responsibilities. Responsibilities: * Manage the build and tuning of medical molds through Design, IQ, OQ, and PQ stages, ensuring adherence to good documentation practices. * Analyze plastic part prints and specifications to identify and resolve issues. * Communicate and collaborate with customers, suppliers, and operational personnel to capitalize on business opportunities and support product design solutions. * Assist in the maintenance and continuous improvement of tooling. * Handle travel arrangements, appointment scheduling, and customer visits. * Track new and replacement tool quotations, vendor specialties, and vendor activities to manage vendor selection. * Oversee the tool build and approval process, working closely with customers, tool shops, and site personnel to transition molds into production. * Support operational requirements with tooling and production engineering, including problem identification, troubleshooting, resolution, and continuous improvement initiatives. * Develop and present tooling improvement efforts and cost-saving opportunities to management. * Assist the sales team in evaluating cycle times and processes. Qualifications/Requirements: * At least 2 years of experience in the plastics industry, focusing on medical molding and mold design improvement. * Strong knowledge of the injection molding process, mechanical aptitude, and leadership abilities. * Proficient in project management, with excellent communication, interpersonal, and computer skills. * A two-year degree in an engineering field is preferred; a four-year degree is a plus. However, the ability to understand and enhance mold and part prints is essential.
