Senior Water Civil Engineer Due to significant growth in our Water Business in Ireland and internationally, we are currently recruiting for a senior civil engineer to join our water team. The position available is for a civil/structural engineer with over 7 years’ experience and a background in a wide range of infrastructure projects. Ideally this experience would have been gained in flood relief schemes or water infrastructure projects, but all relevant civil engineering experience will be considered. Experience from options development, through planning and detailed design stages is required. Candidates will be expected to have a sound understanding and experience of the multi-disciplinary nature of infrastructure projects. Those with knowledge of the Irish planning legislation and design and materials standards, will have an advantage. The ideal candidates will be looking to further their career and gain invaluable experience within an established multi-disciplinary engineering consultancy in a position of responsibility. This is a permanent position and offers the successful candidate long-term and international opportunities. While Cork is our preferred location, as a result of our strong digital capability and cloud-based systems and networks, it will be possible for the successful candidates to work out of their choice of any of our Irish offices Desirable Skills Awareness of the Irish regulatory and planning framework, together with experience of managing civil engineering projects through the planning process Understanding of the suite of contracts used in public procurement in Ireland Understanding of design principles, materials and specifications used in Ireland. An appreciation of climate adaptation and resilience principles and practices; An understanding of the UN Sustainable Development Goals and the impact engineering can have on achieving these goals. Current Projects/Skills and attributes needed Strong civil engineering technical design skills in the areas of surface water, wastewater, and water supply design. Experience in pipelines, water networks, pumping stations or flood relief schemes will be an advantage Ability to technically lead and manage the design process from conceptual layout to detailed design and construction. Passionate about driving digital delivery on projects and keeping appraised of latest industry developments around digital and BIM. Experience with Civil 3D / Revit / OpenRoads / Microstation and other BIM software Understanding of wider engineering project requirements e.g. geotechnics, utilities, risk management etc and ability to tailor civil engineering interventions to suit wider project aspirations. Experience of working in multi-disciplinary teams and client/stakeholder liaison, with proven design co-ordination management and leadership. Experience in project and commercial management to drive the delivery of projects Ability to mentor junior staff in developing their own technical and commercial expertise. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong numerical skills. Effective planning and organisational skills. An ability to multi-task efficiently under pressure and maintain high level of attention to detail. A willingness to engage and listen, to understand the needs of your clients and colleagues. Your Education/Profile A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering discipline is required for this role (equivalent to Level 8 in the Irish NFQ). A Master’s degree would be beneficial but not essential. Chartered status with Engineers Ireland, or equivalent, is expected.
