Senior/Principal Highways Drainage Engineer

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior/Principal Highways Drainage Engineer to lead design packages and projects, engage with other disciplines, clients, and site teams, and work collaboratively as part of an expanding and dynamic team.

We are involved in a wide range of Highways projects in Ireland, including those for the National Transport Authority (NTA), Department for Infrastructure (DfI), Local Authority, and private developer Highway Schemes.

We have opportunities in both our Belfast and Dublin offices, and you will join our Transport department as a Senior/Principal Engineer.

About the role:

  • Lead highway drainage technical analysis and design in accordance with relevant standards.
  • Work in a team environment with other project engineers to support coordinated and sustainable designs.
  • Check and review highway drainage design packages.
  • Apply and promote policies relating to health and safety, quality, and training.
  • Lead the design and implementation of sustainable solutions.
  • Provide guidance, instruction, motivation, and management of staff.
  • Provide input on bids and contract documentation.

Key qualifications and experience:

  • BEng/MEng (Hons) Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered Engineer or Incorporated Engineer.
  • Good working knowledge of highways drainage design, DMRB, MCHW, DMURS, TII specifications.
  • Good working experience working on NTA and/or DfI project control phases and requirements.
  • Experienced in the use of industry standard software, including Micro Drainage used in conjunction with Civil3D.
  • Good knowledge of BIM procedures.

  • Proven record as a competent designer on a number of projects.
  • Confident and professional manner.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to mentor and lead junior staff.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with peers and co-workers.
