AtkinsRealis is one of the world's leading providers of engineering professional consulting and support services with offices across Ireland.

We are seeking to recruit a Assistant Resident Engineer for a site-based role in the Northwest Region area/Galway. The ideal candidate will have 3+ years' experience in roads/civils infrastructure projects. The role will involve site-based supervision, administration, monitoring, and inspection of bridge maintenance and rehabilitation works in the northwest region of Ireland.

Job summary and desirable skills / attributes:

  1. Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.
  2. A minimum of 3+ years relevant experience in the design, repair or construction of relevant structures.
  3. Experience in structure inspections would be advantageous.
  4. Experience in assisting in administering contracts using the Public Works form of contracts an advantage.
  5. Support the Resident Engineering staff in day-to-day activities on site.
  6. Experience in monitoring and inspection of construction works associated with roadworks including pavement, drainage, ducting, signage, lighting, safety barriers, bridgeworks etc.
  7. Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
  8. Experience in record keeping and reporting.
  9. Ability to work within a team environment and under own initiative to achieve project goals.
  10. Knowledge of current H&S regulations and best practices.
  11. Full driving licence.
  12. Computer literate and with experience of relevant software (AutoCAD) and Microsoft Office programmes.
