Site Engineer Hospital Refurbishment & New Build Location: County Longford, Ireland Contract Type: Full-Time, Permanent Salary: Competitive, based on experience Overview: We are currently seeking an experienced Site Engineer to join our team for an exciting hospital refurbishment and new build project in County Longford. This role will involve overseeing the technical and on-site management aspects of the project, ensuring that work is carried out to the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficiency. As a key member of the project team, you will work closely with the Project Manager and contractors to ensure the successful completion of the hospitals refurbishment and new build components. Your strong technical knowledge and setting out experience will be crucial in delivering a facility that meets both regulatory and operational requirements. Key Responsibilities: On-Site Supervision: Manage day-to-day activities on-site, ensuring all construction work (refurbishment and new build) is executed according to plans, specifications, and health & safety guidelines. Technical Support: Provide technical advice and support to the construction team, ensuring engineering standards are adhered to and resolving any on-site issues. Quality Control: Monitor the quality of construction materials and workmanship, ensuring that work meets both regulatory and hospital-specific requirements. Setting Out & Surveying: Carry out accurate setting out and surveying of structures and services, ensuring precise installation of all building components. Coordination of Subcontractors: Liaise with and coordinate the activities of subcontractors, ensuring they are working in line with project timelines and specifications. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed site records, including daily logs, progress reports, and documentation of any deviations from the original plans. Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and other stakeholders. Health & Safety Compliance: Ensure all site activities comply with health and safety regulations, identifying risks and implementing mitigation measures as needed. Problem Solving: Proactively identify potential issues on-site and work with the project team to implement timely and effective solutions. Site Meetings: Attend and contribute to regular site meetings with contractors, consultants, and stakeholders to discuss project progress and resolve any challenges. Qualifications & Experience: A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field. 3+ years of experience in a Site Engineer role, ideally with experience in healthcare or large public infrastructure projects. Strong knowledge of setting out, surveying, and construction processes. Familiarity with Irish building regulations, health and safety standards, and construction best practices. Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Strong communication skills with the ability to liaise with various stakeholders including contractors, architects, and regulatory bodies. Proficiency in relevant software such as AutoCAD, MS Project, and surveying tools. A valid Safe Pass and other relevant certifications (e.g., manual handling, first aid) are required.
