About ENGIE

ENGIE is a global leader in low-carbon energy supply and services. We have been active in the UK energy market for over 20 years, and our investments in energy infrastructure are focused on energy storage and renewable energy (solar, wind, biogas), while supplying energy to organizations of all sizes.

Our project is to build six utility scale ground mounted solar PV projects across the centre of Ireland. The projects are located in Kilkenny, Limerick, Galway and Offaly. They are currently under development with secured grid connection and planning and were successful in securing support through the Renewable Energy Support Scheme (RESS3). In addition to these six sites ENGIE have a pipeline of development projects in Ireland.

About the role

ENGIE are recruiting for aSite Managerbased inIreland - Site oriented. This is a Fixed Term Contract role, working full time Monday to Friday. On offer is a competitive salary, bonus and benefits package.

Key Responsibilities

  • ENGIE's representative on site, coordinating all site activities, sub-contractors and other key stakeholders (DNO,Owner's Engineer, Landowner, Local Council, etc.),
  • Develop, control and manage the project schedule and ensuring all assigned projects and tasks are completedto their scope, on time and budget
  • Manage the relationship with the EPC contractor and with other key stakeholders (DNO, Owner's Engineer,Landowner, Local Council, Optimiser).
  • Closely work together with EPC site manager, ENGIE site staff and Owners Engineer staff and the ProjectDirector to track construction progress, quality of execution, conduct site visits, and prepare progress reports.
  • Coordinate construction site activities and technical staff by interacting with the various counterparties andverifying and monitoring compliance with construction regulations and in full compliance with technical,environmental and safety regulations;
  • Perform risk assessments and proactively solve any technical or commercial issues identified.
  • Collaborate with the Project Director to monitor risks and opportunities relating to site activities, propose andquantify mitigation measures and support the Project Director in preparing cost estimates where needed;
  • Be the first interface on safety issues, ensuring that companies and sub-contractors are compliant with HSErules imposed by Law and ENGIE requirements, and constantly communicate with the HSE supervisor

Key Requirements

  • Significant experience in project management of electricity related construction projects
  • Experience in UK/Ireland for onshore wind and Solar PV projects is an advantage
  • Experience of managing EPC contractors under a single, turnkey responsibility framework
  • Experience of working with key external stakeholders such as ESB and Eirgrid
  • Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Prince II, MBA) is an advantage
  • Degree in Engineering. Alternatively, equivalent education (technical institute) provided it is accompanied by proven experience of several years in the role.
  • Understanding of EPC, FIDIC (or equivalent) structures
  • Basic technical knowledge of PV Solar technology and corresponding equipment, and ideally operational maintenance requirements;
  • Construction site experience carried out in the renewable energy sector
