**European Sovereign Cloud Initiative** We are seeking experienced systems development engineers to spearhead the launch of the European Sovereign Cloud (ESC) in 2025, working closely with global AWS teams to deliver high-availability AWS services exclusively for EU customers. **Job Description** As a Site Reliability Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in building and leading operations and development teams dedicated to delivering scalable services and ensuring a high-availability experience for EU customers. Your responsibilities will encompass: • Overseeing the launch of the ESC in 2025 • Collaborating with technology leaders to enhance day-to-day operations • Ensuring improvements in availability, reliability, latency, performance, and efficiency of the ESC • Participating in "on-call" rotations to resolve incidents occurring out-of-hours **Key Requirements** • 3+ years of experience in software development or related field with proficiency in at least one modern programming language (Java, Typescript, Python, or Ruby) • 3+ years of experience with Linux, using the command line and basic administration, and computer networking fundamentals • Ability to troubleshoot at all levels, from network to operating systems to software applications • Experience supporting cloud systems or other services **Preferred Qualifications** • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills across languages • Experience operating 24x7 high-availability, distributed software applications and performance tuning software applications and optimizing fleet utilization • Strong understanding of network fundamentals (DNS, DHCP, TCP/IP, routing, load balancing, load shedding) and experience with monitoring frameworks (Cloud Watch, Datadog, Grafana, Elastic or similar) • Experience scripting operating system tasks in Bash, Python, etc., and with Infrastructure as Code (CDK, Cloud Formation, Puppet, Chef, Ansible or similar) • Experience operating services in AWS **Eligibility Requirements** • Fluency in written and spoken English is required • Successful applicants must have the legal right to work in Ireland • Amazon will provide relocation support for successful applicants relocating within the European Union • This position involves On-call responsibility **About Amazon** Amazon is an equal opportunities employer.
