Full Stack/Front End Engineer Wanted for Rent the Runway's Galway Office

Rent the Runway is a fashion technology company that's disrupting the trillion-dollar fashion industry. We're looking for a talented Full Stack/Front End Engineer to join our team in Galway, Ireland.

We're a team of smart, pragmatic, and entrepreneurial engineers who practice continuous integration & test-driven development, engage in constant peer code reviews & pair programming, and work hard to give back to the software community through open-source contributions.

The Catalog Service team owns both the legacy and new performant product pipeline from catalog to the app/storefront, primarily controlling how our customers discover and experience the inventory we have to rent/purchase in Rent the Runway.

We're looking for a Full Stack/Front End Engineer who values creativity and user experience as much as great code and curiosity. As an engineer on the Catalog Systems team, you will work with an enthusiastic team of engineers focused on serving products (apparel and beyond) across the RTR platform.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evolve our Product Catalog service, and integrate it with other Rent the Runway Services.
  • Build intuitive and well-tested APIs for manipulating & retrieving data from our product catalog in a performant manner.
  • Deprecate and remove functionality & services that no longer suit our needs.
  • Drive technical projects to success in a fast-paced startup environment.
  • Contribute technically to projects by being a hands-on coder and removing roadblocks.
  • Assist in prioritisation efforts, planning future roadmaps, and providing mentorship to others.
  • Deepen your knowledge and build your skills across our technology stack: Java, Mongo, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Dropwizard, Spring Boot, React, Bootstrap, Splunk, Splunk Cloud, SignalFX, ReactJS, Bootstrap 4, Jest, React-testing-library or other similar technologies.

Requirements:

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, a related degree, or Technical Lead level equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrate relevant professional development experience and a high level of comfort with ReactJS with experience in Java/Kotlin.
  • A strong command of best practices, design patterns, and system architecture tradeoffs.
  • Knowledge of various types of data stores, and their pros-and-cons.
  • Experience with distributed system performance analysis and optimisation.
  • Ability to understand, diagnose, and effectively articulate technical challenges and solutions.
  • High level of comfort navigating ambiguity and making the tradeoffs without compromising quality.
  • Experience in modern frameworks and design patterns (MVC, REST, Swagger/OpenAPI).

Benefits:

  • Generous Paid Time Off including annual leave, paid bereavement, and family sick leave.
  • Universal Paid Parental Leave for both parents + flexible return to work program.
  • Paid Sabbatical after 5 years of continuous service.
  • Competitive Stakeholder Pension.
  • Comprehensive health, dental care and dependents care from day 1 of employment.
  • Company-wide events and outings.
  • Hybrid Work.
