Position Description

ESB Telecoms Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of ESB, develops, operates and maintains a national portfolio of telecommunications assets and is an independent wholesale provider of telecommunications services in the Irish market. The network comprises an Optical Fibre network with overlay transport services as well as Tower infrastructure linking sites in many of Ireland's major cities and towns. From these sites ESBT offers wholesale, infrastructure solutions and managed bandwidth services to its clients.

ESB Telecoms wish to recruit a Solution Design Specialist. The successful candidate will operate as a core member of the Business Development, Strategy & Regulation team in ESB Telecoms to support the enterprise in achieving its strategic goals and financial KPI's. The Solution Design Specialist will be an experienced, results and customer focused professional - responsible for improving sales and overall business growth. This role will have an in-depth understanding of the Irish Telecoms market, products and services, ESB Telecoms infrastructure and capabilities - and the skills and industry knowledge required to prospect and sell them.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Take the role of being an SME (subject matter expert) supporting Sales & Marketing team engaging Customers.
  2. Engaging with clients to uncover their challenges, problem statements and requirements and mapping these to ESB Telecom capabilities and solutions – while being able to demonstrate how the proposed technology solutions can help them achieve their desired business outcomes.
  3. Be able to articulate the value proposition and to demonstrate proof of value / return on investment and the benefits of ESB Telecom.
  4. Working alongside internal teams to design cost effective solution propositions to address Customer needs.
  5. Building trust, relationships, and rapport with client stakeholders to facilitate building out joint strategic partnerships that facilitate business and account growth and value.
  6. Ability to effectively capture and design client requirements and act as the solution design authority on the opportunity.
  7. Ability to develop customer commercial offers working with the commercial pricing teams and to follow the opportunity to closure.
  8. Working alongside the Sales team to draw up strategies to increase customer account wallet share.
  9. Be experienced at presenting to all levels within in an organisation and understand the requirements of all stakeholders.
  10. Provide technical guidance to the team members whenever required.
  11. Identifying potential process improvement opportunities across the landscape.
  12. Providing accurate sales forecasts and allocating and prioritising resources so targets are met.
  13. Assisting project teams in the delivery and integration of new customer services and solutions - ensuring knowledge transfer to the team.
  14. Contribute heavily in strategic planning on helping to find new opportunities and to work on solution and commercial approaches to grow revenue based on the total addressable market.

Experience and Qualifications

Essential

  1. Minimum 7-10 years' specialist sales experience, preferably in Telecoms environment.
  2. Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or similar (or equivalent work experience).
  3. Valid driver's license.
  4. Self-motivated and problem solver with excellent communication skills.
  5. Proactive when faced with a challenge.
  6. Team player with proven ability to work within team and with other support areas.
  7. Highly organised with great attention to detail.
  8. Change control & technical documentation.
  9. Flexible approach (pragmatism, resolving issues, weighing up conflicting solution parameters).
  10. Excellent process methodology and be process driven – logical reasoning.
  11. Willingness to travel nationwide – to meet clients and visit sites.
  12. Experience in supporting diverse range of products/services on multi-tier customer network architectures.

Desirable

  1. Experience in the Telecoms / Data Networks / Data Centre industry.
  2. Experience in Mobile Networks / Telecom Towers industry.

Location

This position will be based in either Dublin/Cork/Limerick, the most appropriate local ESB location relative to the successful candidate's home location. The role will necessitate regular nationwide travel both to ESB Telecom Customer sites, as well as Tower sites, Fibre sites, client offices and supplier/vendor locations.

Reporting To

This role will report to the head of Business Development, Strategy and Regulation.
