Job Description

Location: Dublin City Role: Underwriter Exciting opportunity for an Underwriter with a Specialised Insurance Group - Dublin City (Office Based). Abrivia Recruitment is seeking an Underwriter to join our client, a dynamic and growing Global Insurance Group, reporting to the Underwriting Manager in their Dublin office. This is a full-time, office-based role that provides a fantastic chance to work on a wide variety of specialised insurance lines with exposure to global markets. This role is ideal for candidates who have hands-on experience in underwriting specialised business lines. While previous experience in the London market would be an advantage, it is not a prerequisite. Your Role: Support underwriting activities by assessing historical data, policy wordings, and ensuring pricing is aligned with the company's risk appetite and guidelines. Maintain clear communication with placing brokers throughout the lifecycle of policies, ensuring timely receipt of required documentation. Participate in the daily underwriting team calls, assisting with submission reviews, risk assessments, and policy wordings. Collaborate with actuarial and risk management teams to apply pricing models and ensure alignment with business targets. Represent the business in client and broker meetings, with occasional travel as needed. Develop and nurture relationships with both new and existing brokers, contributing to business development efforts. Prepare and issue quotes, binders, and policies, ensuring accuracy and timeliness. Keep informed about industry trends and regulatory updates within the insurance and reinsurance markets. Ensure all underwriting decisions and data entries are compliant with internal standards and regulatory frameworks. Your Skills: Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent professional qualifications, with progress towards ACII or other relevant certifications. A minimum of 3 years' experience in the (re)insurance industry, preferably in an underwriting or broking capacity. Experience working in, or exposure to, the London Insurance Market would be a distinct advantage but is not essential. Strong understanding of insurance processes, risk assessment, and regulatory requirements. Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines efficiently. Strong communication skills, capable of working well in a team and maintaining professional relationships with external stakeholders.
