Job Description

The Role: This is an exciting opportunity for a senior or a basic grade Speech and Language Therapist with appropriate experience to join our organisation and make a real difference in the lives of autistic children and their families. The SLT on our AAC Support Programme, will report directly to the Clinical Lead /Senior SLT on the programme. They will be responsible for developing and delivering an AAC support programme to families and professionals. This role provides an ideal opportunity for someone who has experience in directly supporting clients with AAC, as well as delivering effective neuro-affirmative training and therapeutic supports to autistic people and their families. The successful candidate will have the ability to communicate in a sensitive and professional manner with autistic individuals and families. They will also have the ability to provide both informal and formal training on AAC and communication. The role requires the successful candidate to work with the AAC programme manager to develop resources, training, services and referral pathways. This post is suitable for a Speech and Language Therapist with a minimum of three years post graduate clinical Speech and Language Therapy experience. Clinical experience in working with high tech communication devices is highly desirable. Clinical experience in supporting the communication of autistic children and providing parent training and support is desirable. We particularly welcome applications from neurodivergent individuals. Key Responsibilities: Deliver clinical services, such as developing and delivering training, teacher training and other one to one support for families accessing the AAC support programme Review all applicants for high-tech AAC, ensuring that all the requirements have been met Engage in and lead clinical work that is guided by evidence based practice Develop and communicate ideas for innovation and improvement Ensure comprehensive and accurate documentation Work collaboratively, with all members of the team, leveraging the knowledge and strengths of others Actively participate in the staff supervision processes Carry out administrative duties such as progress notes, report writing as well as developing therapy resources to support the use of AAC devices Be solution focused and responsive to new directions and program requirements Key Requirements: Speech and Language Therapy degree or postgraduate qualification CORU registration Minimum 2-3 years post graduate clinical Speech and Language Therapy Experience Excellent written and verbal communication skills Previous experience with high tech AAC Contract Duration: This is a one year contract, with a view to permanency subject to funding. Salary and Benefits: AsIAm will offer a salary and benefits commensurate with the AsIAm pay scale and experience. In addition to annual leave, the company traditionally offers additional paid time off (company days) including a Christmas office closure period. This is sanctioned annually at the discretion of management. Working Hours: The role is fulltime. The role holder is required to have a degree of flexibility regarding working hours with the expectation of some evening and weekend work. Location: The role is based in AsIAm HQ in Blackrock, Co.
