We are currently seeking highly-motivated Basic Grade Speech and Language Therapists to join our team based at our Childrens Disability Network Team West Kerry, Oakview Village, Tralee, Co Kerry. Contract Type: 1.00 wte Fixed Term (1 year) Contract Hours: 35 hours per week Salary Scale:€43,276 - €57,653 pro rata per annum. The Role: Working as an effective member of an interdisciplinary team to provide skilled Speech and Language Therapy Services to meet the assessed needs of children, young people and their families. Duties/Responsibilities Working under the direction of the Children's Disability Network Manager and as a member of the interdisciplinary team, the post holder will: Integrate Speech & Language Therapy skills with current Speech & Language Therapy theory and relevant supporting evidence based knowledge. Collaborate skilfully with the service user as appropriate and work in partnership with the service users parent/carer/family to identify goals, including in complex situations. Provide a home/early years/afterschool/educational/community service as appropriate to assess/determine the service user's holistic needs and in line with the policies, procedures, protocols and guidelines of the service. Liaise and co-operate with other relevant professionals and service providers in the provision of services for children/young people and their families. Facilitate a family centred approach. Adhere to the principle of informed consent prior to and throughout interventions. Facilitate the service user to make informed decisions re: Speech & Language Therapy interventions. Use skilled observations and interviewing, including in complex situations. Select, implement and analyse the outcomes of standardised and non-standardised assessments. Apply clinical reasoning to plan, grade, implement and modify interventions that are outcome based and relevant to the child or young person's goals. Provide intervention on an individual, group and consultative basis. Undertake a key contact role for an identified caseload. Be responsible for the coordination and documentation of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSP) in line with the relevant policies and procedures. Evaluate and apply outcomes of intervention in collaboration with all stakeholders. Maintain appropriate, accurate and up to date written records and reports regarding service user care, in accordance with professional guidelines and the Enable Ireland information management policy. Ensure effective maintenance of client records in line with Freedom of Information Act, Data Protection Act, Enable Ireland national and local policy guidelines, West Kerry Children's Disability Services procedures and best practice, thus ensuring Duty of Care responsibilities are met. Timely maintenance and updating of statistical records, including the use of Goldmine software. Ensure that Health & Safety policy and procedures are adhered to at all times. Take personal responsibility for own health and safety and report incidents and potential hazards as necessary. Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech & Language Therapist by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU ( And ii. Candidates must have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office And iii. Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech & Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued. Annual Registration: i. On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech & Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech & Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU And ii. Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland Desirable Criteria: One-year full time post qualification experience working as a Speech and Language Therapist. Post graduate Speech and Language Therapy experience of working with children with a disability in a community setting. Experience of working with children & young adults with disabilities and their families Experience of interdisciplinary team working Relevant post graduate training specific to disability Be a member of or be eligible to be a member of the Irish Society of Speech and Language Therapy.
