We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Senior Speech and Language Therapist to join our Network 5 team in Galway.

Contract Type: Fixed term contract (12 month)

Contract Hours: Full time (35 hours per week) 1.0 WTE or part time hours may be considered

Salary Scale: €57,771 to €68,387 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments)

Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days pro rata per annum and proportionately less for less than 12 months service

Overview of the post: To provide a range of speech and language therapy services to children 0 – 18 years and their families who attend City West Network Disability Team, within an interdisciplinary framework and family centered practice and to support other staff and students as assigned.

The successful candidate will have:

Essential Criteria:

  • Be registered, or be eligible for registration, as a Speech and Language Therapist by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Have 3 years full time (or an aggregate of 3 years full time) post qualification clinical experience.
  • Have the requisite knowledge and ability (including a high standard of suitability and professional ability) for the proper discharge of the duties of the office.
  • Provide proof of Statutory Registration on the Speech and Language Therapist Register maintained by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU before a contract of employment can be issued.
  • On appointment, practitioners must maintain annual registration on the Speech and Language Therapists Register maintained by the Speech and Language Therapists Registration Board at CORU.
  • Practitioners must confirm annual registration with CORU to Enable Ireland.
  • Be eligible to work in the state.
  • Previous speech and language therapy experience working with children with a range of disabilities including physical, sensory, intellectual and autistic spectrum disorder.
  • Clean driving licence and access to own transport.

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience of inter/transdisciplinary team working.
  • Any relevant post graduate training specific to child disability service.
  • Qualification in the management of Feeding, Eating, Drinking, & Swallowing.
  • Specific training and experience in assessment of Autistic Spectrum Disorder.
  • Experience in assessment of children who have a physical and/or sensory disability and/or intellectual disability.
  • Experience of supporting children/young persons with life limiting conditions.
  • Previous experience in a senior post.
  • Experience of completing assessments under the AON process.
