Process Automation Engineer required to provide automation support for operating areas and capital projects at Eli Lilly's Limerick site.

The Process Automation Engineer will work closely with client Process Engineers and Operations Representatives to develop a deep understanding of the process design for their specific process area. Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing day-to-day operation's support related to the site control systems
  • Developing and possessing a deep understanding of the process design for their specific process area
  • Project activities including participating in early project initiation activities, technically leading and managing work performed by System Integrators, and leading a team of automation engineers supporting commissioning
  • Providing periodic status updates to Management
  • Devising functional requirements and process control strategies for control systems in collaboration with Process Engineering
  • DCS software design, coding/configuration and testing
  • Project Management of automation projects
  • Process Control Engineering including design, tuning and troubleshooting of control loops
  • Maintaining the validated state of the site control systems in line with Lilly quality standards
  • Automation support for capital projects including new product introductions
  • Promoting the use of automation to improve productivity, operational efficiency and compliance

The ideal candidate will have:

  • 5 years working experience in Biopharma engineering, operations, or manufacturing
  • Demonstrated ability to participate in and facilitate decision-making
  • Demonstrated initiative, good planning and organisational skills, ability to prioritise tasks, commitment to task completion and timelines
  • Possess a keen technical curiosity and has demonstrated strong problem-solving skills and a desire for continuous improvement
  • Strong collaborative skills with an ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Demonstrated ability to influence peers and business partners
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Knowledge of GMP, regulatory requirements, computer system validation
