A Day in The Life Of: The engineer in this role will design, develop, deploy mechanical and electro-mechanical sub-systems, tooling and fixturing to support the development and manufacturing integration of custom automated visual inspection systems and custom automated test system solutions as a part of the global Operations Innovation Manufacturing Test and Inspection organization. This effort will include focus and tasks that span requirements gathering, design, development, verification, validation, qualification, deployment, installation, training, and hyper-care support for the implemented solutions. Key Skills & Experience Bachelor's degree required with a strong emphasis in Mechanical Engineering, Automation Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or similar discipline. Requires a Baccalaureate degree (or for degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree which satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. 214.2(h)( 4)(iii)(A) and minimum of 7 years of relevant experience, or advanced degree with a minimum of 5 years relevant experience. Experience with manufacturing and test and inspection processes associated with medical devices to include stents, balloons, catheters, or other mechanical medical devices, active implantable device, lector-mechanical medical systems, or electro-mechanical medical devices. Experienced with developing, interpreting and refactoring manufacturing and product process requirements to develop adjacent requirements that support the development, implementation, and qualification of custom automated visual inspection system and automated test systems solutions. Experienced with the design and development of mechanical, electro-mechanical, robotics, and static custom tooling and fixturing to support the integration of custom automated visual inspection and/or automated test systems into a manufacturing workflow. Experienced with integrating system solutions into manufacturing workspaces in partnership with manufacturing site industrial engineering and facilities teams. Ability to support the innovation, design, development and/or optimization of new manufacturing concepts, processes and procedures for transfer to manufacturing operations. This can include scouting and feasibility work, material selection, process and equipment selection, tooling / fixture and equipment installation and assessment of inputs, outputs, and alignment to requirements. Experience with collaborating with equipment and/or manufacturing process engineers to understand and document the interaction between equipment and automation software and workflows needed to support the manufacturing work cell. Ability to work with Vision Engineers, Test Systems Development Engineers, and Manufacturing Process engineers to qualify and deploy solutions to the manufacturing floor.
