Responsible to: Childrens Disability Network Manager (CDNM) Base: You will be addressing the needs of our children and families throughout the West Cork catchment area. Your base will be Clonakilty Childrens Services Centre. This will be confirmed prior to commencement. Overall Purpose of Position To work with the interdisciplinary team to provide a comprehensive psychological service to children and their families enrolled in WCCDNT Main Responsibilities To work within the current PDS model of service based on the 12 principles. To provide a broad range of psychological services to clients and their families. Psychology services may be provided directly to the child or indirectly to parents/teachers etc. Psychology services may be provided through face to face consultation or through telehealth. To complete a range of psychological assessments as required. To provide a range of psychological interventions as required including but not exclusive to providing behavioural support, family/sibling support, planning and delivering group work to children etc. To liaise with children and their families as appropriate with regard to assessments, IFSP, outcomes, interventions and reviews. To actively participate in meetings, e.g. area team meetings, psychology meetings, planning meetings etc To work as part of the multidisciplinary team and to be involved in initial team assessments, team reviews and team interventions. To provide professional reports and to participate in case conferences and other consultancy work as may be required. To liaise with other professionals and organisations as appropriate and to represent the organisation at meetings, seminars, conferences, etc. To keep records and submit reports as may be required by the CDNM. To provide in-service training to staff and parents as required or other relevant persons. To take responsibility for ones own continued professional development. To actively use supervision to benefit ones professional practice. To carry out research relevant to the organisation as required. To keep up to date with best practice procedures and at all times to work within the parameters of the professional Code of Ethics as laid down by the Psychological Society of Ireland and also the ethos of CoAction West Cork. Person Specification : Psychologist Staff Grade Essential Qualifications Each candidate must, at the latest date for receipt of completed application form for the post possess: An honours primary degree in Psychology A relevant postgraduate qualification in Psychology Your own means of transport with applicable licence Be a member of, or be eligible for membership of, the Irish Psychological Society of Ireland Essential Skills He/She should be a good communicator, both verbally and literally with excellent interpersonal skills He/She will have counselling and behaviour management skills He/She will have the skills to carry out psychological assessments for both children and adults. He/She will have good report writing skills and the ability to plan, implement and review individual and group programmes. He/She will have a flexible nature and be capable of working individually and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. He/She will be enthusiastic, self-motivated and keen to develop professional skills. Desirable Skills He/She should demonstrate good knowledge of the Irish Psychology environment in a community setting Essential Experience Have experience of working within the area of intellectual disabilities To have experience of working as part of a multi disciplinary team.
