Job Description

Are you a passionate registered mental health nurse with motivation in your approach to mental healthcare? Waterston are looking for you to join! Waterston Unit is a mixed sex ward, with a total of 18 beds providing a high quality of care and treatment for patients who have physical, social, psychological and emotional health needs. The purpose of the ward is to offer comprehensive assessments and treatment enabling Service Users to have shorter stays in hospital and to develop clear plans of care. We are highly motivated and have a track record of implementing recovery-based care, with an emphasis on therapeutic and diverse interventions. As a Staff Nurse you will assist the Ward Manager in providing high quality nursing care and treatment of patients in conjunction with other professionals. You will provide a high quality of care and treatment for patients who have physical, social, psychological and emotional health needs and enable them to return home with support from the Home Treatment Team and/or their Community Mental Health Team. This is a full-time role; we would be flexible and accept part-time applications. Flexible shifts listed below: Early: 06:45 - 14:15 Late: 12:45 - 20:15 Long Day: 06:45 - 20:15 Night: 19:45 - 07:15 For further information, please contact Sarah Suart at sarah.suart@nhs.net or on 01305 361235.Main duties of the jobWe work closely as a multi-disciplinary team and value learning, having regular teaching and supervision with a shared vision and action plan for the service. You will communicate with relatives and other visitors. You will help to organise and participate in therapeutic and social activities to have a positive influence on patients' recovery. You will supervise junior staff. You will be required to undertake a Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression course and it is a condition of your employment that you successfully complete all aspects of this course; if this is not achieved you will not be able to commence working in the post.
