We are currently seeking a highly-motivated Staff Nurse to join our team in Carlow / Kilkenny Respite Service at Kilcar House, Tullow, Co Carlow & O'Neill Centre. Contract Type: Permanent Contract Hours: Full time Salary Scale: €34,492- €50,362 pro rata per annum. Salary scales are subject to LSI's (Long Service Increments) Annual Leave Entitlement: 33 days pro rata per annum Overview of the Post: The purpose of the role is to work as a member of the team providing respite and home support services, in all Enable Ireland locations across Carlow and Kilkenny. To work with the children/young people through a person centred approach to meet their identified needs during their stay in active partnership and in line with the needs and wishes of each child and family. This post will involve week day and weekend work, sleep overs and night duty. Overview of Duties and Responsibilities: Create an environment, which promotes each child's participation in terms of choice and decision-making and in which each child is enabled to reach their highest level of independence. The candidate should display a skilled approach to clinical and therapeutic interventions to provide care across various states of health and wellbeing and promoting wellness. The candidate should be able to work within their scope of practice, building on their professional development throughout their employment. Be a lead clinician in assigned, allocated clinical areas of responsibility and carry a clinical caseload appropriate to the post. Be responsible for the co-ordination, assessment, planning, implementation and review of care for children according to service standards including TUSLA and HIQA regulations. Ensure the implementation of agreed programmes of care for each child, are met in ways, which promote dignity and respect for the child. Identify and understand the health and medical needs of each child as required and ensure their needs are met appropriately. Work with individual children in a range of settings. At all times the staff will take the lead in ensuring the safety of the children. Provide leadership, support, mentorship to all support staff in the provision of clinical and care support services across multiple locations. Takes responsibility for the line management and clinical supervision of staff and student within the team/service as required. In partnership with parents/carers/team to act as facilitator to foster links with the child's future educators. Identify training needs and deliver training to non-nursing staff as required. Ensure that the care and hygiene of treatment rooms, bathroom and toileting facilities are to the highest standards. Planning and management of bus routes and time schedules and act as bus escort in the transportation of the children to and from home as required. Staff will be expected to display appropriate sensitivity while working closely with families and service users. Works in accordance with Enable Ireland's Code of Practice, Guidelines for working with Services Users and other Enable Ireland National Policies and Procedures. In consultation with the inter/multidisciplinary team be responsible for the design, implementation and evaluation of the programme of activity for each child. Liaise with and organise Paediatric Clinics as appropriate. Liaise with Health Care Professionals. Ensure that equipment, toys and furniture are maintained in good order. Overall responsibility for children's clothing and equipment, ensuring they go home in good order. Planning and Organising of Activities and Resources: Plans and organises activities and necessary resources efficiently and effectively. Understands the importance of time management for themselves and in particular how this translates to organising their assigned caseload. Demonstrates the ability to arrange and schedule activities. Deals with unexpected scenarios with persistence and flexibility to ensure the achievement of goals. Will be accountable for regular documentation of children's progress in their files. Professional Development and Standards in the Service: Ensures that all records and technical data are up to date and available if required. Ensures strict compliance with health and safety standards and adheres to operational guidelines ensuring equipment is checked and working correctly in accordance with safety standards. Maintains a disciplined and professional level of performance under sustained or situational pressure. Integrity & Decision Making: Holds an appropriate and effective set of professional values and beliefs and behaves in line with professional standards as set down by Enable Ireland NMBI, and other relevant professional bodies. Makes decisions in a well-judged and timely manner bringing all relevant information to bear. Uses logical analysis to break complex problems into their component parts. Promotes and consistently supports the demonstration and development of evidence based service delivery. Service Delivery & Initiative: Has the functional and technical knowledge and skills to make a credible contribution to the service. Collaborate with the children and young people while working in partnership with parents/family/carer and all other relevant stakeholders to identify and achieve goals. Strives to achieve quality results at all levels of the service in line with the European Foundation for Quality Management (EFQM) as adopted by Enable Ireland. Takes initiatives to move the service forward and shows a willingness to try out new ideas under supervision that add service delivery value. Is committed to achieving evidence based goals and the continuous improvement of the service. Shows enthusiasm and a high level of motivation in completing projects. Building and Maintaining Working Relationships: Forms strong positive working relationships across all areas of the service, builds on a common understanding. To communicate effectively with parents of children attending the service so as to provide a children and family centred service. Works appropriately with all stakeholders. Team Working: To work in collaboration with the other members of the interdisciplinary team in the planning and delivery of services for children, in particular in the development of person centred planning. Attend and actively contribute to relevant clinical and professional and service meetings. Participate in training and developmental opportunities as identified and agreed. Support and contribute to research initiatives as required. Understands concepts of interdisciplinary team working and complexity of working in teams. Communication: Gets a message across fluently and persuasively in a variety of different media (oral, written and electronic). Makes a compelling case to positively influence the thinking of others. Demonstrates strong listening and interpersonal skills. Works in partnership with a range of relevant stakeholders. Facilitates individual and group interventions in a skilled manner. Communicate and work in co-operation with the Manager and other team members in providing an integrated quality service, taking the lead role as required. The successful candidate will have: Essential Criteria: A recognised validated University Degree or an equivalent qualification in Intellectual Disability/General or Children's nursing. Must be registered, with the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI). Eligible to work in the state Experience of working with children with disability Full manual driving license and access to own transport. Annual registration On appointment, practitioners must maintain live annual registration on the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) (Bord Altranais agus Cnimhseachais na hireann). And Practitioners must confirm annual registration with the NMBI to Enable Ireland. Desirable Criteria: Commitment to working in partnership with parents/carers and children in a family centred manner. Good knowledge of child protection & child development.
