Staff Nurse - UPMC Whitfield Job Description Summary
Seeking a registered nurse to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic hospital setting, with a focus on delivering evidence-based care and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
Job Overview:
The Staff Nurse will work as an integral member of the Nursing and Multidisciplinary team in the provision of evidence-based care to patients. The nurse will provide the highest professional and ethical standards within the model of nursing, assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Practice according to the Code of Professional Conduct as laid down by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland and Professional Clinical Guidelines.
- Adhere to hospital policies, protocols, and procedures.
- Work within scope of practice, continuously develop and maintain competence, and maintain a high standard of professional behaviour.
- Provide and maintain a caring, efficient, and highly professional nursing service to patients.
- Coordinate ward management in the absence of the CNMII and facilitate orientation and development of new staff.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate individual programs of care, ensuring patients receive agreed nursing care.
- Communicate effectively with patients and relatives, ensuring they are informed of progress and treatments.
- Assist medical staff with procedures and treatments, documenting and reporting observations.
- Ensure nursing procedures are carried out in accordance with hospital policies and procedures.
- Ensure proper control, storage, and administration of drugs and medicines, adhering to Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland regulations and hospital policy.
- Anticipate and respond to patient and relative needs.
- Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team in the co-ordination and delivery of patient care.
- Advocate for patients and their families, ensuring care is carried out in an empathetic and ethical manner, with dignity paramount.
- Collaborate to facilitate appropriate discharge planning and continuity of care.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Registered in the General Division of the register of Nurses kept by NMBI.
- Minimum of 1 to 2 years post-registration experience desirable.
- Basic Life Support Certification.
- Flexibility to meet hospital needs, with potential to move between wards.
- Candidates must be available to cover all shifts, including Night Duty, Long Days, and Weekends.
