Job Description

Student Budgetary Advisor sought to provide comprehensive support to students at Maynooth University, delivering a holistic advisory service on academic, personal, and financial issues.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Student Support team to deliver a student advisory service, providing one-to-one and/or group support on academic, personal, and financial issues, and referring and signposting students to other internal and external services.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing expert, holistic advice and support to current students to support engagement, retention, and success
  • Managing a caseload of students, coordinating and monitoring support, and developing referral, advocacy, and sign-posting relationships
  • Liaising internally across core organisational functions to provide advice and support to staff on student needs
  • Contributing to the management and monitoring of financial resources, including the Student Assistance Fund and the Student Emergency Fund
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and reporting on student supports and outcomes
  • Developing and facilitating collaborative working relationships across Maynooth University and with external partners
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge on best practice in support services to students in the third level educational setting

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A primary degree in a related discipline
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate well with students, staff, senior management, and academics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including collaboration, advocacy, and empathy
  • Outstanding administrative and organisational skills, including evidence of managing complex workloads
  • Proven experience working with key stakeholders across a large organisation
  • Demonstrated knowledge of challenges facing students and staff in the higher education sector
  • Proven attention to detail and accuracy in all outputs
  • Excellent IT skills, including MS suite, email, VLE, web maintenance, and editing
