Job Description

We are seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator to join our team on a 6 month contracting basis for our client in the tech/media sector. The Systems Administrator will be responsible for the day-to-day administration, documentation, configuration, and maintenance of the company's IT networks and devices connected to the IT network. The Systems Administrator will provide exceptional IT technical support to employees and contractors as the need arises on various internal networks, including media, office, and finance systems. This role also focuses on managing the render wrangling requirements, involving monitoring and ensuring the smooth running of the render farm for the team's tasks. This is a hybrid role contract role based in central Dublin. Principal Responsibilities: Ensure the smooth operation of the company's network infrastructure and collaborate with stakeholders to ensure networks are functioning efficiently. Responsible for the administration and maintenance of Linux, Macintosh, and Windows-based servers and workstations. Provide technical support to staff on network-specific requirements for projects, both in-house and at remote locations. Administer high-performance data workflows, storage, and backup systems. Document changes made to computer and network hardware, software configurations, and computing resources. Document help-desk ticket resolutions. Perform ongoing system upgrades, including but not limited to: Configuration of firewalls, switches, workstations, and servers. Installation of workstations and displays. Management of cable routing and organization. Mounting servers and networking equipment in racks. Managing rack-room climate control maintenance. Automating administrative tasks for Linux, Windows, and storage operations. Provide ideas and solutions for improving usability and efficiency of information systems for end-users. Manage and monitor the render farm, staying up to date with all changes to the render farm software UI. Support the production team, managing job priorities based on client deadlines to ensure they are not delayed on the render farm. Learn how digital content creation tools (DCCs) and render engines work to effectively troubleshoot failed jobs. Deploy AWS EC2 instances for rendering jobs, ensuring efficiency and managing rendering costs on AWS. Support the pipeline team in implementing new features to increase the efficiency of render farm jobs, which includes learning Python and working with the render farm API.
