Job Description
The Systems Development team builds and maintains the platform that is shared by all Systems teams to provision, monitor, and manage our server and network infrastructure. As a Systems Software Engineer, your main focus will be tool development in Python. You’ll improve and integrate our existing tools and libraries across the platform, as well as design and build new ones to make trading, research, installation, and monitoring systems easier to manage and more reliable. Strong Python skills and development experience are required, along with Unix experience.This role offers a unique opportunity to have a significant impact on a critical part of our existing and growing infrastructure. Your responsibilities will vary, but a typical day in the life might look like:Building and maintaining tools and software features to automate systems engineering workflows related to machine provisioning, monitoring, metrics collection, maintenance, and network configurationTroubleshooting software bugs on a fleet of Linux machines, including application, network, operating system, and/or kernel issuesWriting configuration management code to build, deploy, and maintain new servicesHelping to set the general direction for the Systems Python platformQualificationsRequired:Strong Python programmingAbility to debug and analyze problems quicklyAbility to learn at a fast pace and apply new skills effectivelyStrong grasp of computer science fundamentals and software design patternsSolid understanding of Linux/UNIX operating systemsPreferred:Understanding of Debian operating systemFamiliarity with systems configuration management and monitoring technologiesFamiliarity with continuous integration and continuous deployment tools and processesUnderstanding of networking protocolsProfileBS and/or MS in computer science or a related field2+ years of relevant experience, including programming in PythonExperience using automation to solve problems and improve processes efficientlyActs effectively as a team player but also works well independentlySkilled at juggling multiple tasks while maintaining a high level of attention to detailFamiliar with open-source software #J-18808-Ljbffr
