Job Description

Technical Sales and Business Development Engineer required to promote automation solutions and engineering services to customers in Ireland.

Our client offers complete automation solutions based on safety expertise, including sensor technology, control systems, and actuators. The product range includes software tools, diagnostic and visualization systems, as well as professional safety engineering services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Convert sales opportunities in agreed regions or sectors and promote our client products, solutions, and engineering services to new customers.
  • Identify opportunities for engineering services and support relevant teams to convert such opportunities into profitable successful projects.
  • Deepen and expand relationships with existing key customers to increase revenues and profitability.
  • Provide presales and post-sales technical support to the Irish customer base.
  • Become knowledgeable about customer applications of our Products & Services across our complete portfolio.
  • Take responsibility for specific services customers as defined by the Sales Manager.
  • Support the continued business development of our engineering services.
  • Become a champion within the Ireland market team for one or more of our values streams driving our business development in such sectors.
  • Generate sales reports as necessary, including contacts, plans, and competitor intelligence.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • Customer-focused, self-motivated, reliable, and dependable with a high level of integrity and drive.
  • Successful sales engineer with experience in selling products and services to a wide range of customers within the manufacturing sector.
  • Third-level qualification in a related technical discipline or equivalent work-related experience.
  • 5 years of experience in sales to industrial companies in the automation system integrator and machine builder sectors.
  • Proven knowledge of project engineering methodologies and its relationship to the commercial aspect of project delivery.
  • Knowledge of automation technology, including Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), Control Switchgear, Safety Relays, Distributed Control Systems, Safe Automation Systems, and PC-based control systems and industrial security.
  • Experience with modern automation and robotics systems, including decentralized PLC control systems, robotic systems, vision systems, etc.
  • Proven ability to discuss technical and commercial aspects of project completion from shop floor to boardroom level with key project stakeholders.
  • Proficiency with typical IT applications and tools.

Desirable but not essential:

  • Familiarity with regulations and standards relating to Machinery & Process related health and safety in industrial workplaces.
  • Familiarity with industrial security vulnerability assessment and risk management technologies and methods.
  • Postgraduate business or commercial-related qualification.
  • Strong contact base throughout the Pharmaceutical, Bio-Pharmaceutical, Medical Technology, Food & Beverage, and General Manufacturing Industry in Ireland.
