Job Description Our client is a large Irish engineering consultancy. As a Technical Director, you will be part of the senior management team, reporting to the board of directors. You will be responsible for delivering major projects nationwide in both the public and private sectors, with a pipeline of interesting and challenging projects across all major industry sectors. Your role will involve: Working on the delivery of major structural projects, with responsibility for the technical, managerial, and commercial aspects of your projects. Demonstrating an excellent track record in project delivery, including: Design People management Project costing Budgeting Preparation of all contract documentation Programming Chairing meetings Managing contractual issues Site monitoring for compliance Contributing to the handover of completed projects Having an excellent understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus, including the ability to apply engineering principles and codes of practice to solve technical problems. Exhibiting excellent conceptual design abilities to provide robust and economical solutions in concrete, steel, timber, masonry, etc. Developing the technical, commercial, and management skills of staff that report to you through mentoring, delegation, and training. Uniting and motivating the staff that report to you through leadership, mutual respect, honest communication, and hard work. Developing new business in the agreed market sector and achieving delivery targets set. Working to ensure business targets are achieved. Enhancing the company profile and assisting the Board of Directors in the promotion of the strategic plan. Requirements Honours degree in Civil/Structural Engineering. Minimum of 15 years postgraduate experience in engineering consultancy. Chartered Status with Engineers Ireland/IStructE. Significant base of IT skills including: Structural design software such as Tekla Structural Designer, SCIA, TEDDS suite, CADS suite, STRAP, REVIT + AutoCAD skills. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project. Independent judgement in the application of engineering science and knowledge including complex design, construction, and management. Leadership skills to plan, manage, and direct human, material, and financial resources required to solve complex problems in multi-disciplinary teams. High level of commercial understanding and application.
