Abbott has helped transform the practice of medical diagnosis from an art to a science, helping to create the modern diagnostics industry through the company's commitment to improving patient care and lowering overall costs.Purpose of the job:The Technical Support Scientist proactively contributes to design control our process/product improvement activities and investigations. They will perform or support test/process method modifications, recognize adverse trends/emerging issues and propose/implement solutions. This role requires specialized knowledge of product or process design, standardization, performance anchors and modes of control.Major Duties and ResponsibilitiesProject Management: Manage product and process improvements independently using established principles and procedures.Product and Process Improvements: Monitor performance of multiple manufacturing processes and products differing in nature but with recurring themes to recognize adverse trends and instigate improvement programs as required.Design Control and Risk Management: Independently develops and maintains risk management files and organizes data for risk management evaluation and decisions.Complaint and Internal Investigations: Manage investigations, identify root cause and drive to resolution with minimal supervision.Technical Support: Develop and design experiments. Analyze data and recommend next steps.Sharing Knowledge: Present technical information to management and may present externally to customers and TPMs. Mentor or teach others to facilitate timely resolution of product and process technical issues.Strategic and Results Orientation: Demonstrate fiscal responsibility through support of product availability and improvement.EHS (Environmental Health & Safety): Complete all activities in a safe manner ensuring that any potential safety issues and areas for improvement are highlighted to the Manager.Education & Competencies:Third level qualification in a relevant discipline.2-4 years of related work experience. Advanced degrees may offset the required years of experience.Problem Solving: Capable of resolving different & recurring problems.Leadership: Provides scientific and technical leadership and direction to project teams.Interpersonal skills: Ability to interact effectively with Abbott personnel at other sites within the Division. #J-18808-Ljbffr
