Job Description

Technician Nursing Simulation Department of Nursing (Kerry Campus) (Half time post - One year fixed term contract)

This is a half-time position (18.25 hours) on a one-year fixed-term basis, requiring a strong understanding of audio and visual systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and install audio and visual equipment, including microphones, speakers, projectors, and lighting.
  • Test and check equipment to ensure optimal condition and prevent issues during simulation events.
  • Troubleshoot technical problems during simulation events and identify solutions to ensure seamless flow.
  • Maintain equipment through regular maintenance, repairs, and upgrades.
  • Collaborate with lecturers, planners, and performers to identify audio and visual needs.
  • Manage audio and visual cues during simulation events, including lighting, sound effects, and other necessary elements.
  • Create and install audio, video, and lighting systems for recording of simulation events.
  • Develop, update, and maintain documentation of equipment and services provided for each simulation event.
  • Provide training to end-users on the proper use of audio and visual equipment.
  • Stay up-to-date with the latest technology trends to ensure superior performance during simulation events.
  • Follow health and safety protocols for audio and visual equipment operation and maintenance.

Requirements

  • An appropriate qualification of at least Level 7 under the NQAI Framework and at least one year post-qualification experience.
  • Strong technical skills, problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of audio and visual systems.
  • Familiarity with all types of audio/visual equipment, including microphones, soundboards, mixers, and projectors.
  • Excellent communication skills to interact with internal and external stakeholders and other team members.
  • Detail-oriented and analytical skills to troubleshoot complex audio and visual equipment problems.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, collaborate effectively with other team members, and be flexible regarding work hours.

Salary Scale

€37,419 to €53,275 (as at 01/10/2024)
