Position Overview The Tender Engineer is tasked with developing, managing, and submitting competitive proposals for engineering projects. This role requires extensive collaboration with various departments to gather essential information, analyze project needs, and create cost-effective solutions that align with client requirements and industry standards. Delivering accurate and timely proposals is crucial for our company's strategic goals and growth plans. This position is vital for building and maintaining strong client relationships. Primary Duties: Tender Development: Interpret and understand the technical and commercial aspects of tender documents. Coordinate with sales, design, production, and planning teams to ensure high-quality delivery. Assemble and compile necessary documents, drawings, calculations, and cost estimates for submission, reflecting customer requirements and the companys expertise. Ensure all tenders comply with contractual and regulatory standards. Cost Analysis: Create detailed cost estimates based on project specifications, including materials, labor, equipment, and subcontracting expenses. Assess the project's financial and manufacturing feasibility. Identify potential commercial and technical risks and collaborate on cost-effective solutions. Collaboration and Communication: Work with various departments (engineering, procurement, project management) to gather precise and current information. Communicate with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers to obtain necessary information and clarifications. Attend pre-tender meetings and site visits as needed. Provide a detailed handover of winning tenders to the Customer Service Team, highlighting milestones, risks, and any non-standard aspects. Documentation and Submission: Ensure all tender documentation is accurate, complete, and submitted within deadlines. Maintain organized records of all tender documents and correspondence. Technical Assistance: Offer technical support and clarification during the evaluation and negotiation phases. Assist in preparing post-tender clarifications and responses to client inquiries. Market Research: Conduct market research to stay informed about industry trends, competitor activities, and potential business opportunities. Review past tenders to improve future tendering strategies. Qualifications and Experience: Education: Bachelors degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, or a related field). Experience: 3-5 years in a similar role, preferably within the engineering or construction sector. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of engineering principles and construction practices. Proficiency with tender preparation and cost estimation software. Familiarity with project management tools and methodologies. Key Competencies: Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex project specifications and develop accurate cost estimates. Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in document preparation and cost calculations. Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective coordination with team members, clients, and suppliers. Organizational Skills: Strong ability to manage multiple tenders simultaneously and meet tight deadlines. Problem-Solving: Ability to identify potential issues and provide effective solutions to ensure successful project delivery. Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a team and contribute to a positive work environment. Additional Requirements: Certifications: Relevant certifications in project management or cost estimation (e.g., PMP, CCP) are advantageous. Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Project; experience with tender preparation software (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is beneficial.
