Job Description

**Job Title:** Registered General Nurse (RGN) - Therapeutic Apheresis Service (TAS) Grade / Salary Scale Enhanced Nurse Department: Medical / Therapeutic Apheresis ** Reports to: - **Clinical:** Consultant Haematologist or designate - **Professional:** Assistant Director of Nursing or designate **5. Location:** Cork **7. Hours of Work:** 120 hours over 4 weeks **8. Purpose of Role:** The Registered General Nurse (RGN) in the Therapeutic Apheresis Service (TAS) will be a key member of a dynamic team delivering therapeutic apheresis services to major hospitals in Cork. This consultant-led service, supported by Specialist Medical Officers and RGNs, provides Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE) and Red Cell Exchange (RCE) treatments to patients. The critical nature of this role requires flexibility, including availability outside regular business hours and on-call duties. The RGN will adhere to the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (NMBI) Code of Practice, Scope of Practice, and the Quality System and Code of Conduct at all times. **9. Key Responsibilities and Deliverables:** **Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to:** - Coordinating patient pre-assessment. - Managing patient care before, during, and after procedures. - Identifying and managing adverse events related to the procedure. - Ensuring timely and accurate reporting, documentation, and incident/complaint handling. - Coordinating service delivery, including communication with relevant stakeholders and management of stock and equipment. - Providing training to new staff as required and ensuring relevant documentation is completed. - Participating in clinical audits and research. - Supporting the TAS and services as needed when the service is not required in hospitals. **10.
