Job Title:Timber Frame Plant ManagerLocation:Longford, IrelandSalary:Competitive, DOEStart Date:2nd September 2024Role Overview:My client, a leading timber processor in Ireland and the UK, is seeking an experiencedPlant Managerto oversee its timber frame operations in Longford. This role offers an exciting opportunity for a driven individual with strong experience in production and plant management, particularly within the timber-frame, modular build, or off-site manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing production, scheduling, logistics, health & safety, environment, quality (SHEQ), and maintenance at the Longford site, while also working closely with the design and site installation teams.Role Purpose:Reporting to the Head of Timber Frame Ireland, the Plant Manager will be responsible for overseeing all operations at the Longford plant. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in good manufacturing practices and lean principles, ideally within timber frame or modular construction.Key Responsibilities: Promote and prioritize a safe working environment for all staff. Collaborate with the SHEQ Manager to ensure appropriate safety, health, environment, and quality assurance standards are met. Develop and optimize the production plan for the timber frame process in collaboration with design and site quality teams. Contribute to the overall production strategy for the business. Monitor and report production performance against budget, using agreed KPIs. Drive efficiencies through short- and medium-term projects across the timber frame business. Standardize approaches, practices, and reporting through continuous improvement initiatives. Lead recruitment, onboarding, and employee development initiatives, in partnership with HR. Establish regular production meetings (daily, weekly, bi-weekly) to ensure delivery of the production plan. Build strong working relationships with Shift Managers and Supervisors to support their roles and promote knowledge-sharing. Contribute to the capital investment strategy and oversee capital projects for the Longford site. Ensure smooth and efficient operations from planning and design to production and timber frame erection. Develop a culture of operational excellence and continuous improvement.Essential Skills & Experience: Qualification in Engineering, Operations, Manufacturing, or a related field (or equivalent knowledge and experience). Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Plant or Site Management, preferably in timber frame, modular building, or off-site manufacturing. Strong knowledge of safety regulations and experience in promoting a safe working environment. Proven ability to simplify processes and increase efficiency. Strong leadership skills, with a "can do" attitude, passion, and energy. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to exceed goals and push the team toward high performance. Strong decision-making skills with a capacity to delegate responsibility effectively. Experience in managing and developing teams, creating an environment where people can excel. Ability to manage change and handle risk and uncertainty.
