As we continue to expand our operations, Atlantic Flight Training Academy (AFTA) are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Trainee Aircraft Engineer to support our aircraft engineering department. The successful candidate will be part of the team that maintains a fleet of mostly Cessna 172 and Diamond DA42 aircraft, liaising with our flight operations team to carry out routine 100hr, 200hr checks, scheduled and non-scheduled maintenance, annuals and defect rectification. With a strong reputation for quality and reliability, we strive to provide excellence in aircraft maintenance. Position Overview As a Trainee Aircraft Engineer, you will undergo comprehensive training to develop the skills and knowledge required to become a fully qualified Aircraft Engineer. Under the guidance of experienced professionals, you will learn to perform maintenance, inspections, and repairs on a variety of aircraft, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and safety protocols. Key Responsibilities: Assist in conducting routine maintenance checks on aircraft systems and components. Learn to diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems. Gain hands-on experience in performing repairs and replacements of aircraft parts and components. Collaborate with senior engineers to ensure aircraft maintenance activities are carried out efficiently and effectively. Clean, refuel, and change oil for our aircraft. Support the fuel farm controller to conduct fuelling duties. Complete all relevant paperwork and administration duties as required. Communicate & co-operate with the Chief Engineer and team in a professional and helpful manner. Adhere to safety procedures and regulatory requirements at all times. Qualifications: Minimum education level of Leaving Certificate. Strong interest in aviation and aircraft engineering. Previous experience of the following would be an advantage but not essential: Studying Technical Drawing/Graphics, Mathematics, Technology, Physics and Engineering. Aircraft, Automotive, marine, mechanical or similar engineering experience. Must have the ability to hold airport restricted zone access. Excellent mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. Ability to work effectively in a team environment. Willingness to learn and take initiative. Good communication skills. Fluent in English, both spoken and written. EU/EEA/UK citizen or valid permit to live and work in Ireland without restriction. Personal Attributes: Flexibility, Can-do attitude and willingness to work hard to learn and develop. Start Date: Autumn / Winter 2024 Hourly Rate: Starting on €12.70 per hour for the first year.
